We have a person on staff who works outside the office. What I am trying to do is to receive the calls here in the office and transfer them to her outside the office. I got that part of it figured out, I turned on the call transfer feature in the mailbox to transfer to the phone number that rings where they are at. My problem is that when the line is busy or nobody answers the voice mail will say if you would like to leave a message press 1 to try another extensions press 3 etc. also when that message comes on you can here the busy signal in the backround. I want the call to ring the forwarded number and if it is busy or does not answer to go directly to there voicemail here at the office and not give the customer the choice of opting out. Any ideas, it is an older keyvoice system on an FX-S, I believe the VMMI version is 16a but I really didn't look. It is a windows based voicemail also.

You can send the call off site with the FX sys.. The feature is called CFOS. You can set this up at a station on a button ITCM FWD, RNA or line.. The only thing is that the call will not recall back to the KeyVoice. The call if unanswered will end up in the voice mail of the cell phone. If you need help you can call me at the office 810-603-0554. or email me at [email protected]..

I figured out how to directly send it to the users mailbox greeting after the line is busy or does not answer. But the problem is that the caller can hear the busy signal in the backround of the mailboxes greeting. Is there any way that the caller would not be able to hear the buys signal and only hear the greeting. I have tried turning off the three way calling feature, that did not help. I am stuck.

You might try adding an additional flash hook to the "sequence to return from busy" external column. It would look like this - !,!,.

That might work.

I tried the extra hookflash !,!, I also tried doing it the other way ,!,! neither of them worked, I am still getting the busy signal. If you have any other suggestions besides smash it with a hammer that would be greatly appreciated. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

I have it working in my office. I'll check the parameters tomorrow and let you know. I set it up many beers ago and don't remember off the top of my head.

how are you doing the offsite transfer? What is the transfer parameter for the voice mail? is it blind? wait for answer...?

I have tried it on wait for answer, wait for ring and blind. With blind it does not come back to the voicemail. I believe it has to be on wait for answer so that if they don't answer the phone after so many rings it comes back to the mailbox here in the voicemail. I have been getting the same results with the wait for answer and ring, they both have the busy signal in the backround while the persons greeting is playing.

As tech support would say, what would be required to do it with a butt set? Whatever sequence you follow to do it that way, duplicate it with VM. Use the trace feature with a DTP to verify what voicemail is trying. If the ports are analog, clip your butt set inline so you can monitor (listen to) what is happening.

This should help you pinpoint where the problem is.

Wait for answer would be the best choice, although, keep in mind that this is tying up a VM port the whole time the transfer and recall is taking place.

I have a question: are you using Centrex to send the call out on the same line it came in on, or grabbing a second line to call out to the offsite number? Your transfer sequences will vary slightly between the two. If using centrex, a code is required to cause the hookflash to go out to the C.O., instead of just flashing at the phone system.

I have been watching it on the voicemail viewer to see what is exactly happening according to the viewer. I have not put my butt set on there to listen to what it does. I was taking the word of the viewer. the string in looked like this ,8,1234567 we have dial 8 centrex lines. Wehn it transfers out to dial the outside number it grabs another line to do it. I call in on 1234567 and it answers and tries to transfer to the outside number when it does this it grabs a line in the first line group to dial out on. I hope that answers your questions. If not let me know. What is that code for the centrex I would love to try it.
