I have an old feature set II voicemail that is acting up. The problem is this. I have the voicemail set up to follow the hourly tables. When the voice mail is in day mode it answers the calls after 3 rings. When it is in night mode it answers the calls after 6 rings. The voicemail is connected to a G1632. It has worked fine for years. I went in to change the ringing time and to adjust the directory. The phone system is set up to just ring at certain stations and after 3 rings to ring the VM ports. There is no night ringing on the phone system at all. It is just set up to ring 3 times and then go to VM. But when the voicemail goes into its night time greeting at 4pm. The voicemail ports do not pick up until 6 rings. I checked the answer rings in the VM and the ports are programmed to answer after one ring. I called ESI and he called into it and then had somebody else call me back to tell me that the problem was fixed and that the problem was that the day of the week is wrong. The voicemail thought it was saturday and it is actually thursday. That still doesn't explain how the voicemail answers on different rings from day to night time. Any suggestions. Going crazy.

If I understand you correctly you are wondering that since the phone system is not set up for night ringing how the AA\VM is answering. Something tells me that your business hours are probably set in the ESI for M-F 8-5 for example and any ring received outside that business hours schedule is considered nite servie to the voice mail. Since the ESI thought it was Saturday it thought to use the night service schedule.

I believe I just found the problem. There is a hidden function that none of the ESI support people supposedly knew about. It is called Answer rings for night mode. I specifically asked them if there was a function that have the ports ring differently if the VM is in night mode and they all said no. Thank God that my old boss took good notes. As far as the message being different. Somehow the tables were changed to begin night mode at 8am and also to begin night mode at 4pm. It wasn't like that when I programmed it the first time so who knows how that happened. I believe that, the situation is taken care of. Thanks for the help.
