Hello.

This is a very strange problem. I am looking for any possible solution that might sove this problem.

I have an ALEEN VME PRO running on a samsung idcs 500.

The problem is that SOMETIMES, the message light won't turn on after a message is left.

People get important message but don't realize they are there until a month later.

This might happen 20% of the time!

Other problem is sometimes the message light won't turn off after the message is listening to and delete.

The voicemail won't seem to turn the message waiting light off.

I did recently take 1 analog line away from the voicemail system to use on another device. I did program the phone system voicemail group not to use that extension anymore. Is it possible that perhaps the voicemail system is sometimes trying to select that empty port to signal the phones?

Can anyone offer any suggestion on how to solve this problem or future examine this problem?

Thanks for your help.

some mails use the last port for message waiting why dont you put the port back in
and test to see if message waiting comes back
also see if you have the correct strings in you phone system to turn on/off
the mail port should be referenced in you mail programming book and the system codes in your integration notes

If the string was incorrect, then it would not work at all right?

This is a case where it works sometimes and does not work other times.

Also, the voicemail is suppose to retry to send the message waiting(on) light every 30 minutes in case the line happens to be busy. However this is not going on.

I don't even know why the message waiting light(OFF) signal is not working. Perhaps the same problem.

Is it possible that the voicemail system will basically send the signal on every line
1, 2,3,4,1,3,4,1,2,3,4 etc.....

Provides that the line is not busy however since line #3 has been unplugged.

Perhaps its will sometimes send the signal on line 3 but it does not do anything?

This might explain why it works sometimes but not others?

Thanks.

Sounds to me like you need to go in and turn notification off on the port you took the extension away from!
