I work very little on the Comdial switch, and have forgotten where you set up the hunting for a Debut 2D. Is that done on the switch side or the mail side? My customer is telling me that when the VM is fielding a call on port one, and another call comes in, it is ringing without VM answering on port two.

Mike, you need to have the lines on the DSU programed to ring both ports of the voicemail and set the rings to answer on the Debut to 99.

Seems to me that a setting of 99 on the Debut would mean it would never answer, wouldn't it? The problem is that when port one is busy, it doesn't answer on port two. I thought I had to specify hunting somewhere.

The 99 tells the debut that there is similtaneous ringing on the ports. The DSU will not hunt on co ringing so you have to ring both ports at once. the 99 tells the vm that ringingon ports at the same time could be the same call so that it only trys to pick up on one port at a time. if you program all lines to ring all ports then when port one is busy the next line will still ring on port two. There is intercom hunting on the dsu and that needs to be set for proper function when checking voice mail called "Call Foward Busy" in the manual.

On the dsuII dial 53 station features, dial 18 intercom hunt link, enter station of first link 10-57 enter linking station, dial star for next link reverse the order you entered before and bingo a circular vm hunt. Often you should link the hunts to themselves 1st to clear the link as that can clear up many weird xfer problems. John
