I beleive that the KVT FTP server needs to be on automatic for the engine to run on reboot. When you run VMSTART, it is being started by the CMD file (NET START KVT FTP SERVER). Also, the navigator should be running but won't hurt you if it isn't so long as you dont have any SMS boxes. I think the navigator is the java code for the SMS TUI. It probably got hosed if/when you downloaded a newer version of java.

Zuet: The KVT FTP server is on automatic and I rebooted. The "Voice Mail Viewer" starts up even though the navigator stops just as you said. It looks like BIGDOG3C suggestion to run scandbnt solved the "KVT Voice Mail Manager" problem. With the FTP server started, the voice mail viewer starts without having to do anything more.

Finally, I think that you were on the money with the navigator. That is around the time that there was a Java update. Now my system is using Java 1.5.0 instead of 1.3. Java updates seem to create a new directory in "\Program Files\Java\jre#.#.#_##" which has caused problems on my other Windows systems.

In "Add/Remove Programs" I have:

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5 (118MB!)
Java 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.3

I would remove V5 if I were confident that v1.3 would take over as the Java environment. Perhaps I need to look for an installable v1.3 environment in case removing 5.0 damages the Java environment. But since I don't have any SMS boxes, maybe I will just turn off Navigator.

Thanks to everyone for all of their help.
