Activoice geeks one of my long time customers with activoice software on an old 486(8yrs since install) starting to show signs of age. Customer would like to migrate software to other PC,s. Mirror it on to two new but not too new Pentium1,s.(I,m thinking we would incounter fewer DOS compatibility problems by staying away from a newer faster pc,s) Anybody ever do this or similar? Martin

Ghosting the hard drive and then installing it into the new box is probably the easiest way. As long as you pick a replacement PC with an ISA bus for the voice card it should work.

Should work. I've put the DOS-based Active Voices on Pentium 2's with no problems. By the way, I've never used a ghosting program. Just slave a drive off of the current one, do a format on the slave using the /s switch, and xcopy the files using the /h /e switches. Just remember that DOS has a size limit on the hard drive of about 528 mb. Martin, contact me directly if you need help.

Martin, Activevoice is doing upgrade incentives now to get people to jump to the newer stuff to get rid of their old OS/2 machines, I have done a couple and it is easy, it may be time to let the customer know, but I am not sure what product your using. I have only used OS/2 repartee to repartee LX

Remember that you MUST MUST MUST move the dongle also.
Had a customer call us... they decided to "migrate" their AD-64 onto their "main server." The files all moved w/o a problem, but it didn't work... Wonder why not?
