I'm working on an older Panasonic system, KX-TD816 with a KX-TVS50 VM installed on it. We went to troubleshoot a voicemail issue the other day, and found that only one of the ports was answering. We suspect that either the port was somehow disabled, or that the VM might have a bad port.

Searched high and low through the manual for a way to find out if the ports disabled, and a way to enable it if it is. Anyone have any suggestions?

Is this an Analog integration (2plugs) or a digital (1plug)?

Have you checked the programming on the phone system?

The systems is a 2 plug, Analog integration. I just managed to find the manual on the net today, so we haven't been able to check the switches programming yet. What programming number would it be under?

I'm guessing under [113] VM Status DTMF Set right?

Offhand I don't recall the program number, I usually use the software to program.

Ill ask the obvious question, have you checked both your analog ports coming off the phone system, meaning put your test set on the first analog plug, call vm and see if its hunting to the next analog plug?

Yes, we tested the first port with the buttset and got into the VM. The second port however just rings and rings, which indicated to us either the port is bad, or disabled.

You can not Disable ports. By Default they are boyh active. Have you tried to swap Analog ports between the ports and see or Ext. for working port would be answered by bad port. If not you have a bad port on TVS-50. If yes you know what its means. You have low ringing voltage from second Analog Ext.

We have swapped the ports between the two extensions and the good working port answered on both when tested. I'm strongly beginning to believe that it is a bad port.

Yesterday tried to connect to the VM via Null Modem cable with Hyperterminal settings in the manual with no luck. It said it was connected but nothing would come up on the display. Any suggestions here?

a1, all you need in the TD 816 is one field.
Field 117. enter 1 port #
the TVS50 receives 2 voicemail ports off 1 TD816 port.
It rides on the 2nd pair so you need a 2 pair linecord.
plug the linecord into port 1 of the TVS.
Have you talked to the TVS50 through the laptop?

If there is 2 ports out of one Extension then the second jack is ports 3&4. Try to dial into the VM from two extensions at the same time and see or you will be picked up.

If you have DPITS established then just dial 166 which would be the extension # for the 2nd port.
Is the light on the TVS solid or flashing?
Your going to have to connect with the laptop and look at the port assignments as well as the "PBX type" and integration mode.
