First off, I'd like to say that this site and bulletin board is great. Tons of useful information. Hopefully I will be able to contribute something helpful soon. I was thrust into the Telecom Admin roll about a year ago with zero experience, but I think I'm coming along. I will try not to say anything too ignorant. :-P
Now to my question (I did a search and glance through the topics, I hope I am not reposting) I have a Keyvoice 8.2 R:3a (yes it is DOS) that is the voicemail system for an Inter-Tel v4.1 system. The problem is that I am unable to get the message waiting lamps to light up for any of our 80 phones.
We have 5 offices in the Memphis market that have the same setup and I can't find a difference in the setup on any of them.
I have the "Sequence to turn on lamp" set to: ,367,,XH and the "Sequence to turn off lamp" set to: ,366,,XH
My Inter-Tel phones all have Message buttons programmed and the lights do work when you press the button.
I've rebooted both the phone system and the voicemail. I am able to call into the voicemail and it work like it is supposed to, everything except those darn lights.
Any ideas, suggestions, comments, or at this point prayers would be welcome.
Thanks, David

David first try to light a MSG lamp by dialing the code from the voicemail port. If you can light it then you have a problem in the voicemail or connection. If you can't light it then you have a problem with the phone system, maybe programming such as class of servioce for the voicemail ports. Lets see which piece of equipment is causing your grief.

That makes sense, however I am not overly sure of how to do this... If I dial an extension of a voicemail port, it goes directly to the attendant .... I'm don't really know how to send commands from a specific port. Thanks for the suggestion and any other info.

No...don't dial the voicemail port. Dial FROM the voice mail port. Plug a single line set in the voice mail port coming from the phone system and do a message light initiate sequence. If you can do it fron there you have eliminated the phone system programming and can concentrate on the voice mail issue.

RBF is right but You have to dial into VM each port to make sure all ports are unswering calls. Usually it is port #4 that turns MWL on and off. Only after that you follow RBF's advise. Plug in single line telephone into port 4, go off hook and listen for ICM dial tone and dial 367 follow by ext. number. MWL has to go ON. then go off hook and dial 366 follow by ext. number MWL should go OFF. If you hear outside line DT take an outside line Preference off that ext. and make sure it is ICM. But maybe 366 to set it ON and 367 to set it OFF???

Thanks for the tips guys. I was in Atlanta the end of last week, but I'm headed back to my problem office to try it out.

It was port 4 on the voicemail card that was the problem. I set the voicemail system to use port 2 instead and it worked fine. Thanks for the assistance.
