Ran into a Key Voice (windows version) today where some of the user mailboxes were full of blank messages (1 box had 175). I didn't witness it happening and couldn't duplicate it.

Voicemail flow was:
---> box 800 greeting
---> (if no digits entered) transfers to ext 200
---> if no answer leaves message and then chains to box 821
---> if still no digits entered transfers to 200 again

This loop doesn't explain messages appearing in other boxes such as 204. Customer had no complaint about box 200.

Possibly related is they tell me the message waiting light on their Toshiba phone (x204) would turn on and off by itself... which I again did not witness.

All I figured I could do was change the done chain of the user mailboxes after recording a message to say goodbye instead of going to 821.

All voicemail ports are receiving disconnect digits (at least from line 1.)

Anyone experience this before or have any suggestions?

Check for auto forwarding in the suspect or victim mailboxes.

Also check for modified Transfer To destination and/or modified (non-standard) MWL string in one or more boxes.

Did the box with 175 ever check their mail? Otherwise Justin is pointing you in the right direction.

Sounds like the disconnect digit isn't configured right or is being missed. If it is leaving blank messages, you might want to look at the number of seconds of silence required to terminate. Are the blank messages about the same length?

Yeah the messages were all about the same length. I won't get back to the jobsite until the customer calls us back if it happens again.

They need to log in as a supervisor, or as the owner of the main greeting and make the recording. If they don't have this information, I would suggest getting a hold of someone local who can help.

I'm not sure if Keyvoice works the same way, but I've had the mystery-message problem with Repartee and Replay. It's usually a notification that is set to the extension itself.

Call comes in, message is left, notification calls extension, leaves message. Notification calls extension, leaves message. Etc. until mailbox is full.

To fix, turn off notification.
