(Sorry for the dupe post, I originally posted this in the Avaya forum, then realized this one is probably more appropriate. I will ask the mods to close the other post).
I think we have a bad Hard Drive on our Octel VMX 100, I have managed to build a serial cable and get the MAINT pw, so I ran the tests:

Any hope for getting the software to rebuild onto a new drive (I may have a few older SCSI drives that should work, but I don't see any way to load the software)?
If that's not practical, will a Toshiba Strategy voicebrick work to replace this? I may be able to acquire one..
It's connected to a DK280 system that I don't know very well...
Any help is much appreciated.

Repairing that is really not practical. It is probably close to 15 years old and has been discontinued for around 10 years. A Stratagy Flash(aka VoiceBrick)will work just fine on a DK280.

That's pretty much what I was thinking, thanks.
So for now, while we eval various VOIP setups, we will use a refurb CICS 8x16 and CallPilot 100 to tide us over.
Since I've not programmed Norstar before (Definity G3i/AUDIX was the last serious phone stuff I did before dealing with this antique DK280 and VMX100), any helpful tips are much appreciated.
Is the initial system programming best done from a phone or from a PC with NRU? (assuming that the I-RAD is activated on this system).
Since I seem to have strayed somewhat from the intent of this section, I'll post this and future questions in the Nortel area.
Thanks again, Barrey
