Am setting up my starmail on 816 system but can't get it to answer. I even set the rings to one but no avail. Am I missing something here to do with the phones as far as telling them that starmail will answer I have all the voicemail boxes set up and have greetings on all of them-- I have starmail plugged in to ports 7 and 8 on a 16 port system. Can anyone clue me in to what I missed???

You're located in Machesney Park, aren't you??

Is this a Samsung product or is this a Startalk voicemail from Nortel??

Have you set up this voice mail system before??
Do you have documentation?? (installation & programming manuals)Are you adding this VM to an existing system??

If it's the Samsung product, you may have better results in the Samsung forum. If it is a Samsung, then I'll get a Moderator to move this for you.

Yes we are in Machesney Park. It is a Starmail by Samsung. I have the manuals, but can't figure this one out. Do you work on Samsung equipment as far as programming etc.? Also, I have two mailboxes that I can get into, but there are four that just ask for the password twice then shut you our.

The prostar has programming to do in the following mmc 60 ,61,62,69,76,39,32,30 if in fact you have the correct starmail cards to integrate with 816.

Above is a link to manual suppliers
I would suggest you get a Starmail manual and prostar 816 and a comfortable chair.

My manual is 14 years old and product is long discontinued .

Good luck

I have contacted the moderator and have asked him to move this thread to the Samsung area. You may get more responses there.

I used to work on Samsung Prostar & Prostar Plus 816s back in the early & middle 90's.

From your profile, it looks like you are well-versed in the IT world. Working on the 816 is like you working on (at best) a 8088 or 286 in DOS. Not a pretty picture.

Let's see if we can get this thread moved and see what happens this weekend across the country in Samsung land.

Thanks for all the input--I do have manuals that I downloaded-- (KENB) Haven't tried #560 to reset the passwords--will try it though. Also, when you mention 60-61, etc. my manual doesn't have those numbers--it starts at 110, do you mean 60 series, 61 series etc.? For instance 610,612, or 601, 602 and so on? This is a system we bought off of Ebay I know it's old technology, but it is replacing a bunch of mismatched phones with no vmail or aa. One thought I just had (rare occasion) our current set-up is a thing with the phone company that answers after 4 rings and lets customers leave a message. Even if I set the system to answer after 1 ring--would this potentially throw it off? Thanks for the responses.

Those 2 digit numbers are 816 prostar numbers for integration of 816 to Starmail.

If u get the sm working I would turn off telco
mail to avoid conflicts
