My customer has a toshiba 424i with a stragaty IVP8. he wants to have his people to call into the VM and to be able to give info on job related purchases and receive a computer generated PO # so the accounting dept. can see what is being purchased and what jobs it is going to.
If there is a way? I will need help on this.
Thanks!

Technically you can use tokens to do what you're asking, or at least close to it. But you'll have a difficult time getting the data file off of the IVP8 without using a serial cable. If you had a Stratagy ES or an Amanda Windows for Workgroup you can network a drive and share it. You might want to also look into an IVR system.

It depends. You could do something like using a date-time based PO numbering system.

For example, a user calls in at 10:15 on may 22, and says, "PO number 0522-1015, $325.00 plus 29.42 tax for $354.42 total, part number blah blah blah yada yada yada, user Smith, John J., etc., blah blah."

But to do this right, you'd need an IVR. And the problem is that you're making the accounting system work around the machine's capability, which is usually not a good thing.

Another way to do this would be with a web-form that they fill out through a browser. When they submit the form, it assigns a PO number and forwards the form to the accountants and to whoever else needs to authorize or code the PO.
