I have to agree that caller id should be ok but name is not something I've seen.

we have a DS2000 here with T1 here using wink start. we get DIDs, CID, and dialtone, so it is demonstrably possible, and has been for the last two years we've had the system, going back to the 2.xx software release.

Well that's good news to hear! Although I'am curious how you had a t-1 on the old 2.xx.xx version as it didn't support t-1? guess you meant you migrated to 3.xx.xx. I once had a B version cpu that was shipped with s/w 2.11.00. I pretty much have had this issued resolved for a few weeks now and customer is still all smiles! SCREW WINDSTREAM formally Alltel!! They were rude and not helpfull at all!! Thanks for all the replies though!

hah yes, it was 2.xx when it was originally brought up, but updated to 3.11 (?) right before it went live. the newer DSX T1 card also works with 3.22.09, although we're running into what NEC thinks is a firmware bug. (see my post on the NEC category.)

I work with a large VoIP IXC in Canada, and we are looking to find a partner in the US that can provide us with Virtual Bi-Directional PRI. We would like to aggregate their entire network with origination and termination. Can anyone direct me?
Thanks…

very simply put, you cannot have caller id on a T1. It cannot happen. What you can have is ANI. What is the difference? ANI = Calling party billing number (no name) CID = Calling party name and number
There is not any transport device available to send the name across a T channel.
It is very specific how the carrier sends the ANI - ask them for the pattern - it will be something like */#DNIS*/#ANI*?# or */#DNIS-ANI*/# there are several formats.
If you want dial tone - KEEP asking for it. They can do it. If not your pbx needs to provide a simulated dial tone from somewhere.
Besides, dial tone is just noise....

Caller ID number is available on a long distance PRI (using PSEUDO ANI).
Caller ID number and name is available on a local PRI. Not all local carriers can offer CID name functionality but most can.
