Thanks again Mike, you know a lot about this man. Are there other devices besides Adtrans that you could connect directly to the T1 loop? For example a Cisco Router, or any other vendor's equipment? Or is it a proprietary type system?

There are many different types of equipment Adtran makes, CSU's included. Most T1 equipment has options to provide the CSU/DSU functionality, and generally can interface directly with a T1. Adtran and Cisco are two of the bigger vendors of equipment that does connect directly.

But Adtran also make network equipment that doesn't - they make standad ethernet firewall/routers.... So without model numbers or something, we couldn't tell you for sure what it was.

The name of the device is "Adtran Total Access 624". This Adtran device connects to an eight port switch that is made by Zonenet( some cheep brand I think).

The 624 contains a router, among other things.

Does the adtran have anything else connected to it? The total access 624 is a channel bank. Channel banks can be used to pull out a number of analog lines from the T1's 24 channels, and use the remaining channels for data. A 624 has capacity for 24 analog lines, they're also made as low as 8 lines - 608. It seems a little over-kill to use a 624 if not using all the lines....

But anyway, that definitely proves that you have a pure T1 entering your space.

nfc's correct, it has a router, but it's not a particularly useful one.

The Zonenet "switch" may well be the "missing" firewall. My Netgear Prosafe FVS318 has a built-in 8 port switch, and many home-style cable firewalls have 4 port switches.
