How do you port phone lines to T-1. Also, there is a list of numbers with hunt 1-1 hunt 1-2 etc. what does this mean? HELP!!

You have to be on site and have tech. from provider on other end. Tech is going to follow your instruction what number he has to start porting first. Then they have to make a test call to make sure your system recieved that call over T1. After sucsessfull test you continue porting from last line up to main number. Hunt shows you in which order POTS lines or T1's chanel are hunting on busy condition.

"Porting" has to do with moving phone numbers from one type of service to another. In your case, the old POTS numbers will afterwards be associated with the T1 instead of individual two-wire analog circuits. Calling one of the old POTS phone numbers should now digitally "ring" a channel on the T1.

For a brief time after the port, it is possible to draw dialtone from on of the old POTS circuits. This is a temporary state. They will be useless as you will not be able to place or receive calls on them.

To answer your question more directly, you don't have to consider or worry about connecting the old lines to the T1 circuit...it just doesn't work that way.

Yes, the phone company sets up hunting for you. You typically tell them the sequence you want.

Dagwood said it earlier. The numbers are "Ported" (transferred) to the T-1 circuit by the phone company. You don't have to worry about it. It just works!

The co lines ride the T1 to the prem, then depending on the service type are broken out. Most likely on a channel bank. In all due respect It seems you may be in a bit over your head here, you may want to consider hiring a professional to give you a hand. The time saved will be more then worth it.
