Hello all, I have a client who is replacing a 56k data circuit with a point to point T1. Verizon has decided they're not going to offer 56k anymore, and thus people must be migrated.
We had a DSU-5600 on each end of the old circuit translating the data. Now we've put in two Kentrox Datasmart Add/Drop units to handle it.
Here's where I ran into a wall: The data has to be changed from b8zs/esf to 56k to serial before it can be put into the transmitting device.
Well, actually, from the originating point:
serial->56k->b8zs/esf- across the point to point circuit- then b8zs/esf->56k->serial
Right?
My question is this. How do I pin out a connector from the db25F on the back of the Kentrox to the rj45 on the back of the Adtran DSU-5600 properly?
I'm looking at all of the manuals I can find, and nothing matches up.
Thanks to anyone who can help me decipher this, tylerpd1

You question has me scratching my head… Why are you continuing to use the DSU-5600’s on each end and adding the Kentrox units? I’m not all that familiar with the Kentrox DataSmarts but I did a quick look up on a couple models and by their literature it appears there are models to will take a 56K. Maybe I’m missing something but will the Kentrox units not REPLACE the DSU-5600’s?

I tried to do it without the DSU's, BUT... it isn't possible to get rs-232 out of the data ports on the Datasmart unit. Its either 56k or EIA-530. No speed control, no nuthin'
