i am new to t1. quest just ran a t1 for our outside lines. from outside to tele closet.then using a 25 pin connector from punchdown block to router box.the powers that be want to know if the inside extensions that run from the ics to a block also need to go to the t1 block or the router?

25 pin? I think you mean 50 pin or 25 pair. If they've given you a 25 pair punchdown block that is probably your channels and where you terminate your feeds.

sorry, been out of the game bout 30 years.it is a 66 block with 25 pin connectors on each side.one side has the t1 and a connector from block to a adtran router.i need to get our sytem (norstar modular ics ) hooked up to this block so that it is running thru the t1.

I'm assuming this is a 66M150 block, if so they have broken out the channels. If you want to put the T1 into your system on a T1 interface card you want to come from the NIC card right to your T1 system card. You won't be using the Adtran. If you want it channelized you just jumper from the block to your CO lines and bridge clip.

I want to assist, but I just can't understand what is being said. Any chance of providing us with a picture of what you are seeing (or attempting to describe), CB?

My thoughts-
T1 plugs into 'router box' using standard patch cord from smartjack. 25 pair cable goes from the 'router box' to a 66 block, whereby the KSU connects like a standard loop start line, because to the phone system, it IS just a loop start line.
At least this is what I see most often, if the system does not take the T1 line directly.

thank you. i was thinking of a jumper from ksu to smartjack also. i'm just not sure that qwest brought it in the same order as it is in the cabinet.if not i suppose i could crosswire the block.

I think that what Chocolate Bunny is calling a "25-pin" is actually an amphenol connector (25-pairs). In that case, the general wiring pattern would be something like:

Amphenol connector of MICS -- > Amphenol Cable --> 66 block, cross-connect 66 block -->66 block, --> Amphenol cable --> 66 block with T1 punched down.
