a customer wants cat 5 shielded for Point of sale terminals. i've got the cable, is it necessary to get shielded jacks or would regular jacks be just fine? any experience with this?

If installing properly you need shield jacks. Also need to connect cable to ground.

If all else fails, use a BFH.

You can also use shielding that's available to retro fit some existing jacks if you have them. The idea is to keep the cable shielded and grounded from every point, so once you strip it back and punch it down to your mod jacks, you'd be exposing the cable and not grounding it... forfeiting the entire purpose of having shielding in the first place (on the cable end of things). Kind of odd that the cust. requested that, but oh well -- the customer is ALWAYS right Good luck.
