Has anyone ever tried these powerline ethernet adapters that let you use the building's electrical wiring for ethernet.

I have an old house which is being used for an office. They're getting hosted voip mad and need several locations. Can you even do more than a pair of adapters?

Yes, if the product conforms to the Homeplug 1.0 specification, you can have multiple adapters driven by a single "injector".

My experience is limited to Telekol iWire products in MDU environments, and we've had pretty good luck with those. Rarely, an iBridge (injector) will require a power-cycle to bring it back online, but otherwise there are few problems. Performance is about on par with 802.11b wireless, so it's not super-fast, but it works.

Some of the Homeplug devices are capable of providing much higher throughput rates.

Yikes! Hosted VoIP with powerline ethernet adapters! Yikes!

Good luck! You'll probably be able to sell them a real system soon.

I've installed powerline ethernet products in two locations. Both were the last resort most cost effective means of network delivery and they work great! I have an entry in the computer topic regarding this!

I have seen this used in quite a few hotels in my travels. You may want to look into some lodging industry trade publications for sources.
