I don't know if this exists or not, figured this group would likely know -- if it does.
I'm looking for a jack and plug combo which is 8p8c, but is keyed such that only its plug type can be inserted. I thought about something like a MMJ, but unfortunately MMJ is only 6p6c.
The reason is that the new conference room table has these pop up power/data pod's (
https://byrne-electrical.com/Item.aspx?ItemID=88452) and I'd like to make it so that the Polycom Phone and only the Polycom can be plugged into a specific jack. That way we can keep the speaker up top and all the hardware below, and not have wires draped over the table edge. When the speaker isn't being used, it can be removed without fear of a network cable being inserted into the powered Polycom Jack and letting the smoke out of something.
The Polycom has a keyed cable that prevents it from being inserted into a data jack, but the reverse isn't the case. An alternate idea would be some other 8wire construction that I can get a keystone for and build an adapter.
Thoughts?
