I am trying to figure out what type of Fiber Media Converters I need
I ran a piece of Fiber Cable Armored 62.5/125 MM 800 feet .I need to order 2 Media Converters for conectivity .I would like to be able to order 10/100/1000 to 1000 but I keep seeing that they only support 220 meters on 62.5/125 and 550 Meters if I used 50/125
Does this mean that I won't be able to get Gigabit Speed.
This is more of a question .I am not exactly sure if they even need Gigabit speed

That's pretty close and SX might work but to be sure you would need to use 1000BASE-LX GBICs or converters. With LX you can run gigabit to about 550 meters.

Just so I understand this if I am using a 62.5/125 Fiber and I am over the 220 meters I would have to use the LX Media converter and if I used a 50/125 Fiber and I was over the 220 Meters I could use a SX Media conveter .This is assuming I am looking for 1 Gigibit

I am also trying to figure out when I would use the 62.5/125 vs the 50/125 when running Fiber

Distance, performance desired, and cost would be my determining factors on which to use. Though I never use 62.5 anymore, haven't done so in probably 4-5 years.....

One more thing not to get off subject. But thank god they came out with single strand fiber optic media converters a few years back. I used to always try to leave a couple spare fibers in a cable for future use. The newer media converters sure have saved my rear-end a time or two on some mission critical projects where we were running out of fibers that I thought would be sufficient when I installed them. One 1,600 acre facility I installed has over 22 miles of cable buried through out the complex.. Couldn't imagine trying to go back to the customer later and saying "Hey, get out the check book we have to bury more cable!" Well now they still have spares due to the converters freeing up strands!!
