Hi guys, i'm not sure if i'm in the right section or not, but it's worth a shot. My company has a payphone on site, a Protel 7010 that we've lost the upper key to. I have the key for the coin box, as well as the original purchase receipt and key code for the key we're missing. I've tried the original seller, Payphones Direct, and the number I have is DC'd, and their website looks gone. I tried Protel in Florida, but with a minimum order of $50 and the fact they didn't sell direct, they don't seem like they can help. I have seen locks from Medico and Abloy. Is there any way I can find a key without a locksmith coming out to pick the lock and replace the assembly? Thanks in advance....

Take your key code to a authorized dealer for the make of key, probably Abloy, and they can make a copy.

We have a locksmith in the ATCA club who specializes in coin keys. I am away from my office today, but I can reach out to him and send you his contact info by tomorrow am.

I tried a contact I was given from someone at AbloyUSA. Apparently the code we were given doesn't match with anything they are familiar with. It looks like we're going to have to drill it out and replace the assembly.

It could be a medaco lock also. Is the key slot like a regular key or more of a circle. Good thing you got that code. I used to do alot of payphne stuff and it is a pain to drill them.

I lucked out actually. Our Maintenance Department was able to open it with a comparable key. We've since replaced the cylinder with a lock we have the key for. Thanks for all the advice, it's amazing what replacing a battery in a payphone will generate.
