I put my fax on an anolog port of my system, if someone needs to send a fax (not often with todays internet abilities) they dial our main line then dial the fax extension, pain for them, saves money for me. I rarely need to recieve a fax, people use pdf files and others and send by email. I might do 4 or 5 outgoing faxes a month and get that many incoming in a year. Guess it all dpends on how you do business. I dropped my fax line a few years ago. Mark

I have an electronic fax number that costs me about $24 a year. Send me all the junk faxes you like, I can delete electrons pretty quickly. I think they filter out junk faxes if I mark them. It's hard to tell because in 5 or 6 years, I don't ever remember many junk faxes ever coming to me.
The rare times I need to send a fax, I just use my analog line and set the TTI to my efax number.

A few years ago I got fed up as well with spam faxes so I bought a fax program called "Essential Fax" and ran the fax line into the computer. I could easily delete any spam before printing.
Now with Windows 7 there is a built in fax program. Same thing, although the number of spam faxed incoming are getting way fewer. Whether it's because I've registered my fax number on both the US & Canadian DNC list, I don't know.

Oh, waking up, the DNC list does not work with a fax. You can complain th the FCC https://www.fcc.gov/guides/fax-advertising but good luck with that.

What we used to do was identify the number the fax was coming from and then tape about a dozen pieces of paper together in a big loop. On the paper we would write some pithy comment like "Don't send me anymore of your crap" or perhaps a simpler "F@#$ You, A*!hole" and then send it to them. The fax on a loop would run all night and hose the offending machine. We rarely were bothered twice from the same spammer.

We still have our traditional fax machines and numbers but for some reason, we rarely get junk faxes anymore. I recall not long ago, I might have 1"-2" of paper junk faxes per month. They seems to suddenly stop. Most of our faxes come in on our "Castelle Router" and faxes enter an email account watched by the receptionist. She then forwards the email/fax to the recipient - for legitimate faxes. We still deal with places like "Bubba's Cafe and Garage" who find traditional faxing to be "a new fangled thing." Bubba must live somewhere near Mike D. great-grandfather's fine wine making machine in those there hills of KY. Either way, a customer is a customer I like Sams way of doing things.
