I really wish people would stop using their "mobil devices" to post messages. Either that or pay attention to proper sentences, capitalization and punctuation. This isn't a frigin' text message.

To answer your question from what I think you are saying, forward the number the 800 number is pointing to (your local business number?) to the Magic Jack number. The 800 number will follow. Or repoint the 800 number to the Magic Jack number if you want this to be permanent.

Sorry! Hal that was a bit of a quick message gone bad. My next question! Is it possible that depending where you live, you may not be able to port forward a business line to Magic Jack Plus??I,m in Canada. Thanks

Don't think it makes any difference. If you can forward the line (what's port forward) you can send it to the Magic Jack number.

Is your port forwarding just a remote forward? Then it should work. But my experience with 800#s and copper lines is that the the provider forwards the 800#s, not the user. Has your provider given you some type of web access to your service?

An 800# is usually a "phantom" number that points to (is forwarded to) a real number assigned to you. That real number can have call forwarding, variable on it. So if you pick up the phone and forward that line to your Magic Jack number all calls to that number will be forwarded and your 800# calls will go with them.

I do not see the advantage of pushing your 1800 number to a Magic Jack or any other non-managed VoIP service.

I'm no fan of Magic Jack but I don't see why not. Apparently he want's to receive the calls at a different location and he's familiar with MJ's shortcomings.

Actually i want to get rid of my landline, i just operate out of my house . The port forwarding is done with the Magic Jack + .I guess this might not be something most business's feel comfortable doing.

No. In that case you would want to call your 800# provider and ask them to repoint your 800# to whatever the Magic Jack number is. Try it before disconnecting your landline so you can change it back if it doesn't work out.
