We have a customer who has forwarded unanswered stations to the voice mail system. After the caller rings at the station and is forwarded to the voice mail. he hears "you may transfer the call now", before hearing the correct greeting form the mail box. The problem is system-wide. Seems like I remember some modification to the "trans.txt" file to correct this problem, but I can't find anything about it now. Any ideas? Thanks.

It has been a while, but you are on the right track. In the DXP there is a table that shows what digit is added for transfers, I believe it is 2. Go to trans.txt and add the lines xx2=xx*,* and 9xx2=xx*,*. The x's denote extension length. If this does not work, can you cut and copy there trans.txt to the site, I have the info at home, and like I said, it has been a while since I have done this.

Thanks. These 2 lines are in the trans.txt file, although they have 3 digit ext numbers, so there are actually 3 x's in these lines. Also, there are these lines: 996=840 700=880 9#xxx=#,xxx #xxx=#,xxx xxx*=xxx*,* 9xxx=xxx,*,# Any thoughts? Thanks again.

The entires in the trans.txt file also depend on the version of VVP you are running, and the software version on the DXP. Most older versions that do not send callerID information to the VVP system use these entires in the trans.txt (for 3 digit extensions):
9#xxx=#,xxx 9xxx2=xxx,*,* 9xxx=xxx,*,# #xxx=#,xxx xxx*=xxx,*,* xxx2=xxx,*,*
Let me know if that does anything for you.

Another way around this problem is to run a trace on the call and note the Prompt that plays 'we will transfer the call now'. Then go into the /P directory find the file name ****.VOI and change the extension .VOI and make it .BAK. This way you do not loose the prompt, you just re-name the prompt so the system does not find it, and all the caller hears is silence until the call transfers.
Good Luck
