We currently have the Comdial InnTouch Concierge and Comdial DXP systems installed at our hotel. The computer that runs our Concierge System is out dated and we would like to transfer it to a newer computer system. We currently have someone on staff that handles our phone, LAN, and computer systems. We no longer use the company that originally installed the system, as they do not seem to know anything about the system. When they installed the system in 1998, they did not leave us the software or manuals to install Comdial VMMI or InnTouch Concierge. We do have the administrators password, but not the installer password. Is there any way for us to get the software and manuals directly from Comdial or another dealer? We would also like to connect the DXP to a music on hold source. Do we need any extra equipment? Matt Hinz Super 8 Holdrege

I'm sure any Comdial dealer will come out and help you. They should have left the voice mail software on site, after all it is part of the voice mail unit you paid for.
Your music on hold plugs into the port on the services board (it will say MOH and BGM) MOH uses pin 2 and 5 BGM uses pin 1 and 6

Music-on-Hold connects to the only six pin jack on the services board. Pins 3-4 page Pins 2-5 MOH Pins 1-6 BGM. Connect the audio source. If MOH was enabled your good to go. If your Concierge is working, leave it alone. The software was designed to run on the platform. VMMI software is not normally made available to end users. Because you mentioned it, I presume your DXP is VMMI capable as it may not be. The default Comdial installer pw is I*746* I strongly urge you to find a Comdial dealer. www.comdial.com can help in this regard.

What type of audio source can you use with the system? The way I read it in the manual I found, you should be able to connect it to the speaker out on a receiver.

To be legal you must play non-copyrighted material. If you play store bought CD/tapes or even a radio you could be fined and sued for royalties. Just thought you might like to know.

In regard to the PW, I made this decision based on 1)PW is in the public domain 2)set programming is not possible and requires a great degree if user intervention 3)If in fact this switch is CCB then VMMI is required.

No one really answered my question. Can you connect it to the speaker out of a receiver?

The design is for a 1 watt input. I would use the earphone jack if it has one. If the device has a preamp-out main-in use the preamp-out.
