I currently have a Comdial 2000 E cabinet and use a model 6706 model phone. I would like to step up to a model 6614T model phone. What type of port reconfiguration will I need to do if any? Also will this model phone work with my system? I am trying to get a speaker phone option and if possible a redial feature. Is this possible?

Yes it will support the 66xx phones, why don't you go with the 6600 LCD phones they are much nicer and are speaker sets.
As far as programming you will have to change the port definition to a 07 for LCD or a 03 for multiline set depending on what you go with.

The 6614 can directly replace the 6706 set, line appearances will be the same as on the 6706. No re-programming will be necessary for this exchange. Redail is on all comdial sets of this vintage by pressing the # (Pound) key while the phone is idle. Don't lift the handset, just sneak up on the phone and press the pound key and it will do a last number redial. mark

Isn't the 6706 a 6 line set with no light indicators on the top buttons, It's been a long time and I didn't care for the 67xx phones at all so i tried not to install many.
As a side note, make sure when you get your phones that they have been refurnished right. That means they went through and re-built the button pad as they were known for flaking. Once you install them program all the automatic features you can, that will extend the life of your sets. (Ringing Line Pref, Idle Line Pref, speed dials DSS/BLF buttons and so on.

As someone who sells these phones, I have a couple of tips: Do NOT buy sets of this type from E-Bay or anywhere else that will not offer a one-year warranty! The keypads degrade badly from long-term use and must be comepletely re-built to have any assurance that they will last. As a side note, the 67xx series does have some speakerphone models, but as the previous posts said, the 66xx series is generally a nicer phone. For a speakerphone, you need a phone with an "S" or a "T" designator in the part number after the first four numbers. A 6614x is a non-speakerphone, a 6614T is a speakerphone. The 6600 display sets (and the 6700 sets) are all speakerphones.

Right DTMF, there are no LED's at the top of the 6706 set and there are LED's on the top of 66xx series. That doesn't matter for exchanging 6706 with a 6614 though because the 6 line 06 set has all lines on the bottom and the 6614 set has 8 lighted line positions on the bottom so all lines will appear where they are presently programed to appear. mark

Thanks, I was think it was more like a 3-8 line set in programming. But like I said, I wouldn't sell the 67XX's so really didn't work with them much.

Paul144 my current phone does have a speaker/mntr button and you can hear dial tone and someone talking, but I can't talk to them. Is this a programming issue or am I using the wrong term when I say speakerphone? Should I be saying conference feature? Do you know if there is a programming instruction manual still available somewhere? Are the phones sold by Sundance rebuilt?

First, all recent business "system" telephones have speakers for generating ring tones and intercom. Usually this can be used to listen to a conversation. Virtually all business "system" telephones have hands free intercom answerback capability. Those that are not "speakerphones" use either the handset microphone or the speaker itself to generate the voice reply from the non-speakerphone. Either way the voice path quality is poor at best. A true speakerphone has a built-in microphone to generate the voice signal. It sounds like you have a basic non-speakerphone, i.e., no microphone. Check the model number. If it has four digits followed by "S" or "T", it is a speakerphone. If it ends in "X" or "E", it is not. With a couple of exceptions. All 6600 and 6700 phones with display are speakerphones, no matter what letter follows the four digit model number. I have no idea if Sundance rebuilds their keypads. I certainly hope that they do. You can see my profile for more information if you would like. The manuals for this system are available by using the "manuals" tab at the top of the page.

monkey Your describing a monitor phone...it has a speaker, so when someone puts you on hold..you hit the speaker button and hang up the handset so you can hear when they pick you up but that phone doesn't have a mic for them to hear you...you have to pick up the handset to continue the conversation.
added: Yes...Sundance does rebuild the dial pads.
If the pads aren't rebuilt you'll have problems as described above.
