Hi - I have a Comdial Executech 2000 system. Fairly small - just a few phones and lines.
Can someone please explain to me the easiest way to connect the KSU to a PC for remote programming? I really do not want to purchase the OPX unit and install a modem just for this purpose... Is the a way to "directly" connect the KSU to the PC's serial port using a cable of some sort?
Also, what type of communications software is best to to use?
Thanks for any help that can be provided.

You can connect directly to the system, the instructions are in the installation / programming manual and the manual for VDT programming.
Pro-com or Hyperterminal will work fine.
You should complete your profile with an email address and occupation, it would be easier to help you if we knew your level of experience with this sort of thing. mark

You are still not answering my question. What type of cable should I use and which port on the KSU does it connect to? As far as my profile, I am the OWNER of the system, I am not a telephone installer BUT I have maintained this system for years now and am very familiar with it and the programming. <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by markk: You can connect directly to the system, the instructions are in the installation / programming manual and the manual for VDT programming.

Which cabinet do you have; E40PT, E60PT, E80PT ? The 80 will connect with a standard telephone line cord at the RS232 A port. This would connect to your PC serial port via a RJ25/45-DB9 connector. You must "wire" a connection point on the 40 and 60. markk was trying to help amigo!
