I am having a problem with the startup of an old Comdial Debut 4 (4 port analog system). I get an error message stating that the Startup Menu is not found. It says that I should start it by typing VERBATIM DEBUT. When I do this I get the same message again. How do I resolve this problem? I do not have the software or the manual to reload. If I do have to reload, how do I save the database files for reinstallation on the reinstalled system?
Thanks

If this is a 8.2 version then you are correct you should start the VM from the VM directory with Verbatim Debut as the batch file to start it with.
If the version is 8.5 then use GO VM
To save all your database files using keylink you copy all the .DVM .CFG .TXT and .LNK files.
To back up greetings copy all the files that end with .GRT and .NAM in the VM/M directory.
As far as software goes you may need to get with DTMF on here and either call him or e-mail him.

Does this mean that the only way to fix the startup problem is to reinstall the software on the Dubeut unit? There's no other way or anything else to try? <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by Tipandring: If this is a 8.2 version then you are correct you should start the VM from the VM directory with Verbatim Debut as the batch file to start it with.

What I was trying to say was that you need to be in the VM directory and that depending on which version you have you either use the Verbatim batch file or the Go VM batch file.
If either of these files are missing or are damaged then you will have to replace those files or others that may be missing/damaged.
You will have to have the software to replace the files that are damaged.
