So is there anything out there better??

I've had really good luck with my IBM Thinkpad. I don't know if this is true or just a perception, but they seem to be build a little better than some on the market, and put up with a truckload of abuse.

We've got 4 toshiba sat pro's at our shop, 2 without problems - 2 with nothing but problems. I went out and bought a Compaq and love it. What price range you looking at?

I probably will go with shiba, but I hear their battery sucks, is the average capacity of a battery around an hour and a half???

All of the techs in our shop use Compaq laptops. We have had OK luck with them. Sure miss a dedicated serial port, now we use USB adapters

I thought you said that your system was down...

I use a Compaq laptop. No problems and it does have a serial port built in.
