I am investigating networking 3 fxII together. Currently there are already 3 tied together. So eventually would like all 6 tied together for a continuous network. My question is Is a full t-1 needed or is there a way to break out channels from an existing T-1 at the 3 new locations?? The 3 networked switches are 1 DXP and 2 FXII. Trying not to install 3 new T-1's

Depending on software versions there is a limitation of how many switches can be tied together.
The early versions 13-15 were limited to 4 sites if I remember correctly, and the FX II is now at Version 17D and can go to 10.

Also I believe Cometdial requires a full span, as the common channel signaling has to be on channel 24.

VOIP can be used to network and would not require a full T-1. However VOIP can get pricey.

you can do a D&I (drop & insert) with the comdial networking. You just need to drop the channels from the beginning of the span and not at the end. just like tipandring stated channel 24 is needed for signaling.

Version 15 started the 10 nodes and centralized voice-mail. The number of nodes is going to depend on which switch is used for the hub and it's growth capacity. I hope the DXP is not the hub, but a DXP plus or FX will be OK. At one time Comdial would not support anything less than a full clear channel T-1 but I know dealers that had it running on frame relay. With frame relay the voice-mail features suffered. Just remember that as you add nodes your chance of linking increases. That means be careful of reducing the number of channels.
