We are currently trying to network 5 FXII and a DXP Plus. Could you tell me the card needed to do a D & I. I will post the software levels we are running but could you also state the software level needed. VOIP is to pricey to try at this time. Thanks

Comdial does not have a drop and insert card. You will still use the network cards but add a unit such as an Atlas csu/dsu to do the D&I for you. Just set it up so you drop from channels 1 up. The comdial networking treats the card as a PRI.The network needs channel 24 for data traffic.
You should not have any issues.
I have a DXP, DXP+, FXT, FXII all network with traditional and VOIP networking.
There were a few flakey issues (voip)but it seems to be pretty stable now.
Also running VOIP phones.

To make sure the T-1 must be PRI or can the CSU/DSU simulate this?? Reason is we have T-1's in place but they are not PRI. Thanks

the T1's do not have to be pri, the comdial uses the 24th channel like a pri, the 24th channel is used to pass data and not voice when using the traditional networking card.

Just to be sure. As long as I have the 24th channel reserved for the FXII's and the DXP Plus to talk on then our existing T-1's should work. I can just allocate the 24th channel using the CSU/DSU correct.??

To break it out, you have 24 channels on a point to point T1.
The T1 needs to be a point to point T1.
You want data to pass between the T1 and voice.
You have 24 channels to do this with a drop and insert you allocate 10 channels for data and 14 for voice. You need to use the first 10 channels of the T1 for data not the last.
Then you pass the rest through to the networking card. Programming only the last 13 channels for netwoking. Remember the last channel is used for passing the data info for the voice channels and it will not let you do anything with it..

The only thing that I have found be a problem with doing drop and insert is that you have to defeat robbed bit signalling in the CSU|DSU or the D-Channel won't work.

Could you explain more about this issue of defeating the robbed bit.
Thanks
