I recently moved a dx-80 to a new location. I was able to modify the existed DB to accomadate the new office and additional employees. I am having a problem with the hard-drive voicemail though. When I try to enter into the VM via ext 157, the VM beeps once and then releases the call. Is there a way to reinstall or initialize start the VM as if it were new?

Powering the system on will reboot the VM. If that doesn't get the VM to answer you will need to hook up to it with the keylink software and see what it's doing.

I have been told by a tech that used to work on the dx80's that it sounds to him, the "main" message has been deleted. He suggested calling each port and if I keep getting discontected, the "main" message needs to be reinstalled. He said he doesn't recall how to do that, can anyone help? Do I need to enter the VM via PC?
Will the keylink software work on 2000 professional? Get it be loaded via pcmcia card(f: drive)on the laptop(my floppy drive is broken and I am waiting on a new floppy from Dell)? Any help would be very appreciated. I work everyday on Nortel 11c-81c', and a lot of Norstars CICS, MICS, and BCM's, but I have very little experience on the comdials.

Just go into supervisor programming from a telephone and re-record your main greeting to whatever routing box it's supposed to be in. I can email you the supervisor'a guide.
You don't need to connect with a PC to re-record a routing box, in fact it's easier by phone using the supervisor function.
Keylink will work with windows 2000 (I think) I use XP and it works with that.
If you need more direct support call or email me, info is in my profile.

After trying the suggestions, thtanks to all that responded, I found out from one of the "administrators" of the system that all of the mailboxes on the system were deleted including the admin. Is there any way to get into the VM to reset the admin mailbox or rebuilt it? No matter what ext 157 through 164 I dial, I see a the ext on the display and and below it displays cbck and msg, then the HD beeps once and the call is released. This all happens in about a 1-2 second time frame. The ucd group 433 has these ext in it. Does anyone know of another way to get into the VM to start anew?

I think you can pull the battery on the VM card for a few minutes and then re-install it and re-boot and the VM should come up in default. I've not done it but it seems like the logical approach. Wait to see if someone else chimes in before you try it, but I think that might be the way to go.

I would think that it being a hard drive based that the configuration on the hard drive woukd stay the way it is, the battery is just cmos for the pc that the HD card really is. Without any admin box he is probably going to have to go thru setup from the command line in DOS using keylink.

Wouldn't he still be able to get in with a laptop directly? I sure would try this. If you can get in this way, then all you would have to do is rebuild Routing box 800, 801 and then add all of your mailboxes. At least you could see for sure what was deleted and what wasn't. Surely all of the boxes weren't deleted. I'd try laptop admin--for sure. It seems your tech friend is assuming that boxes have been deleted because you can't get into the VM by phone. There may be other issues. Go in by laptop and see what the heck is going on. Borrow someones for the time being. Don't you program the DX-80 by laptop? Good Luck.

I think JW is on the right path.

The battery on the voicemil will not reset the hard drive back to default. I think the best thing to try is the laptop approach.

If you call it and when you hear it answer can you hit the pound "#" button and get anything to respond?

If the default system boxes are still in place this might get you started.

let us know what you find out.

I am heading to the location now 6:30 pm EST. To answer the last Q I can't get in by pressing # when the VM picks up, I received a copy of the keylink to get in via laptop. Will anyone be on this forum in an hour or so? I have web access at the office the VM is located and I sure would appreciate if there is a problem I might be able to run it across some of you more experienced comdial guy's.

Thanks agin for all your help...I'll be back!
