Comdial DXP System
Comdial Digitech 7700s Phones

One of my users had two offices and for some reason years ago someone set it up so that when one of the phones was picked up it automatically dials the other office phone; however, this only happens one way.

Things I don't understand about what is happening:
1. Camp = Off
2. Picking up the handset or pressing Speaker makes the other extension ring
2a. However, other extensions and phone numbers can still be dialed
3. Pressing Itercom does not dial the other extension

I really need to get this fixed, because someone else is taking over in one of the offices and the phone can't ring everytime the other phone is picked up.

Thanks for any info!!!

Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I have forgotten this before.

I think this is it.
In station programming options 3
Delayed Hot Line

You can assign prime intercom to one station using another station’s intercom number to provide a hot line feature. With the hot
line feature, the user of the station receiving the prime intercom assignment can take that station off-hook and be automatically
connected to the station to which the intercom number is assigned.

You can delay this hot line action from taking place for a system defined period of time by clicking a check mark next to the feature
name. With this delayed hot line feature in effect, the user of the station receiving the prime intercom assignment receives
intercom dial tone for a short time after taking the station off-hook before the hot line connection automatically takes place. This
delay allows that station user to place intercom calls as well as effect hot line calls.

If it is an older level of software, one other thing could be causeing it. I don't remember the level of software this happened on. I found that if you have 2 phone with the exact same name, this made it a hotline to each other.

Like if you have 2 stations labled Chris. When one would pick up the handset, it would ring the other Chris. I had to put in something to make the names different.

BIGDOG3c! I think you are my hero... however, I can't get into my software to change extension info [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

Our system CPU burnt out a few months ago, so we purchased a refurbished one, but now the only thing I can do through the software is watch the traffic. Do you know if there is a way change a name through the phone menus or some special code?

Anyway, I think that you nailed... I will do some searching to see if I can change the name through the phone.

Thanks to both of you for replying!!!

Try
ITCM *#0*53
Dial station number plus # if less then four digits
Dial # to clear the current name
Dial the two digit codes for letters
Dial # to save.

If you need the codes for the letters just post back the name and i'll post them

hey bigdog, I never heard of that before, I better put it in the file. How did you figure it out? If you remember what level that was, let me know.

You would think I would remember what level it was. Getting to old I guess. uh, what was I talking about? I need to start writing these things down..

That was such a weird issue. took me a little while to figure it out. I ended up defaulting one of the stations and it cleared it up, when I reprogrammed it the problem then returned. Then I new it was something to do with the station programming, just took it one step at a time then.

I was able to duplicate it on a different system.(same software level though)I had to prove to comdial it was not a fluke.

Ok, that didn't solve THAT problem; however, you still rock because I can now change people's displays to read the right name!!!

BUT even after changing the names on both phones that one still calls the other...?

If that didn't work then it's probably as Mark said and the prime line intercom is set to the other station. I had that name problem on a 12A system before it must have been just after Bigdog because Comdail said they knew about it and said the only way to fix it was to change the name. How many times has it been Comdial's solution that you need to learn how to live with a bug?

I don't understand why system software would even reference the name entry when deciding what to do when a set goes off hook. Seems goofy.
