I had a customer call in and they said that their telephone was staticy and unable to use. I went out and after I replaced the phone it was perfect. They called next day and said it was the same problem, I went out and changed the port from 13 to 33. They called and said it did the same thing. I went out and put in on a new cable and modular cord. They called me today and said it still did it. The thing is every time I unplug the phone and plug it back in it works like a charm for a few hours. Any ideas what it could be? I did reassign the station 13 to port 33. Should I use another station number??

Any info would be great... The phone is a 6614 PGX.

Here's a wild guess.
static electricity build up.
User wears wool suit or sweater and other things like shoes and the carpet can cause this. Unplugging the phone discharges it. I'm guessing your in a cold weather area. I take a little liquid fabric softener and dilute it with water and spray the phone, carpet and the area a little. I have had users who zapped out thier transmitter every winter and also one with long dangly ear rings that caused "static" when they rattled on the handset. Good Luck.

could also be some kind of interference. Can you get that person to use a different desk for a few days, just as a test?

I was wondering if the digital sets were paired like the older executechs. In fact I expected this question to refer to those older sets and was surprized to see the trouble on a 7700. If they are paired, your call is the first choice to try.
