I have a customer that has a DX80 sys with 7260 phones. The phone in question starts out with a very faint static and builds up to a noticable static. It is almost like inductive static but nothing has changed since the install. I believe it may be happening to other phones as well. Not sure if problem is in phone or port or linel.
Any suggestions.

Check the cabinet serial number on the side...If there is an J in the middle of the serial number I seem to remember there were some white noise issues as you describe. Replacing the CPM module fixed it.

Just swap it with another set and see if the trouble follows. I'm betting it's a set trouble; I have replaced 6-8 sets in the past with similar symptoms.
