assuming all things being equal and the company installing knows what they are doing, then the same question still pertains.

Assuming a system is properly programmed to perform within it's limitations and features...(sometimes a big assumption)...not all systems are created equally. Early Vodavi Infinite DVX were just plain crap, we experienced absurd amounts of out of box failures and the s/w was very buggy and poor. They improved the quality of the equipment with the DVX+ line...but it took them another few years to get the s/w debugged again.(I hate being a company's guinie pig, it makes ME look bad). I have worked on Iwatsu a long time, but never warmed up to the fact that they have also had to revise s/w so often to fix issues. I have done alot of work with both of these. I like the Nortel product because it is durable and stable. I haven't had the chance to work with the Avaya product much (pretty propriatory 'round here). Not a huge Comdial, Intertel or Toshiba fan...I've been called out to fix these systems alot after the original install company has ticked off their customer to the point that they are no longer welcome...I usually soon find out why. Don't want to rub anyone the wrong way..just droppin my 2 cents.

Personally, I prefer Toshiba CTX. It can handle just about anything you can imagine within it's port capacity. PRI, VoIP, E&M, VM, QSIG, and so on. It's also pretty reliable, almost no out-of-box failures, remote programming, and physically durable.

Best system we service hands down Tadiran Coral now Sprint Flexicom. Systems installed in 1983 can be upgraded, using existing backplanes and cards to latest versions and IP. No other system can say the same. Solid as a rock.
Worst system I have ever worked on was the Omega IV. I cannot tell you how crappy this system was/is.
