We have a Comdial DXP PBX with 17B software serving 30 users and Interchange 10.7 Voicemail, set for single-store unified messaging to the Outlook Inbox.
We then upgraded to Microsoft Exchange 2003 and upgraded the Exchange Server to Server 2003. Afterwards, unified messaging started acting buggy. Only some of voice mail messages ended up in Outlook Inbox, and then not all messages were available by phone access either. We turned off unified messaging, and standard phone-accessed voicemail worked properly.
Comdial's only solution for restoring the unified messaging capability is to upgrade to the FX PBX, and version 11 of Interchange voicemail—an upgrade of approximately $20,000.
Does anyone have any suggestions regarding how to better fix the problem. We are not inclined to make further investment in Comdial.
Are there other (non-Comdial) unified messaging capable voicemail systems that will work with a Comdial DXP PBX? If not, can we make a comparable investment in a “next generation†system? An recommendations on which new systems to investigate?
Thanks to all in advance for your responses.

How old is your info? Rls 12.0 Interchange has been out many months and I can not believe that the recomended upgrade would be the last 11 rev. DXP has been out for MANY years and and it would be best to upgrade to the FXII platform you could probably make due by upgrading to the latest UM server and client. How old is your DXP? How old is the last computer in your office? ------------------ Business Phone Systems

You're right, Interchange 12 (rather than 11) was recommended. The DXP is 10 years old. Our computers--servers--are mostly new to 3 years old, Dells. My understanding is that the latest UM (ie, Interchange 12) requires the FXII PBX and will not work with the DXP. Is that true? Therefore, my questions are (i) is there any work-around to get UM to work other than a PBX + VM upgrade and (ii) does it make sense to say with Comdial if we are forced to upgrade PBX and VM? <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by RATHER BE FISHING: How old is your info? It seems to me like you kinda answered your question. Someone had made the decision to upgrade your PCs. Maybe you stayed with Dell when you did, maybe your old PCs were another make. Why is there a question on whether you should stay with a manufacturer when being presented with a need to upgrade, when it has served you for ten years. Would you use a ten year old computer? Of course not. Technology has improved greatly since then. ------------------ | Signal Communication Systems - Fresno, CA | | Telephone Systems, Voicemail Syste... & Data Cabling - Central Valley, CA
