I am trying to connect to a ring tone on the paging equipment. I need a dry contact that I can access from various phones in the plant. Would I use a line port and change it to CO DEV? Will this give me a contact closurer when I dial the line dir number?

On the DX-80's CPU board, it is the 3.5mm jack labeled "BELL" next to the serial connection. Just attach to a 3.5 mm MONO plug, and do the necessary programming.

I tried that and when I dial the dir of 779, I get an out of service display. I must not have something correct. Any ideas?

CAUTION
It is important to adhere to the electrical requirements of this contact.
The contact closure is rated at 24vdc, 1Amp.

You can assign the contact closure to one of the following three uses.

Loud Bell Control

If the system is installed in high noise environments, there is often a requirement to equip a loud (high-gain) ringing device. Using the contact in this way provides for control of an optional, ancillary loud ringing device. The device is connected to the contact as a trigger. When ringing occurs on CO lines in CO line groups designated for loud bell, the contact closure operates and controls the connected device.

External Page Control

The contact may also be programmed to control external paging apparatus. When programmed in this manner, the contact closure operates whenever the external paging port is activated.

Music Source Control

The contact may also be programmed to control Message On Hold devices. In this mode of operation the contact closure operates whenever CO lines are placed on hold. This function can reduce wear on electromechanical devices that provide the message on hold function.

To assign dry contact closures to ancillary devices, do the following:

Click Programming on the menu bar of the WinPC-DBA main screen. Slide the mouse cursor down to System Resource, then slide over and click Loud Bell on the drop-down submenu. The system displays the RP:Resource—Loud Bell menu.

Click the down arrow to the right of the Application field and select L.B. (loud bell), M.S.1 (music source 1), M.S.2 (music source 2), E.P. (external page), or DIR (loud bell control -- users can dial loud bell number to close relay until they hang up). The default is L.B.

It's all in the pcdba help file for 39 and up and in the manual.

It's still in the system resources section. You just don't get to use your mouse.
