I have a dxp 15b software w/ a keyvoice analog voicemail connected to it.....we added an ist card and a ring generator to the dxp.....everything is working but the vmail button in the display of the 8024 phones.....When you try and use it it gives you the options menu....Any ideas.

Are you saying it worked before you added the ist and ring gen? I thought you needed a serial link to the VM for that to work properly. In VMMI you can set the display to show several different scripts, but just showing VMAIL doesn't make it work. Better wait for bigdog to answer this. I think you need digital VM ports and a serial link. Mark

Hi, You need to hook up the serial port from the DXP to the serial port of the VM. set baud at 9600 etc. You will also need to do first time setup on the voice mail and choose serial intergration. Let me know if you need anything else.

I don't know that the analog key voice has serial integration, that's why I asked if it worked before the adds. I still think he needs digital VM ports and the serial link. mark

We've done serial integration with several interchange boxes with analog ports. As far as I know both serial & analog/interchange & DOS all do the serial integration. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Make sure your serial port parameters are set the same on both the VM & PBX. Run PBX setup on the VM & turn on serial integration.

Analog and digital systems both support serial integration. I'm betting on the first time setup rerun to fix the issue.

We already ran first time setup and chose serial integration option. We connected the serial cable to RS232-2. Baud rate is set correctly at 9600 N-8-1. Why would it work when you have a message and not work when it is just showing the vmail on the LCD?

sounds like a trans.txt issue. your serial integration is communicating with the DXP or you would not be getting vmail in the display.
If I understand you correctly the button works if you have a message but not if you dont have a message.
The information being brought into the vmail is different if you do not have a message.
Turn on trace in the vmail with the trace flags of D and T.
This hit the vmail key and see what is being brought in.
You just need to make sure you have a match in the trans.txt.
email or call me if you need help.
Oh, I would also think about taking them to 15C 176.00 on the DXP. It is a more stable platform then 15A 171.00.
