We have a strange problem. VMMI has started randomly closing with no warning. I cannot duplicate the problem at will, but no error is displayed. It just **poof** is gone. I can re-open the program and log back into it and get back to work, but today it did this in the middle of an Apply and corrupted the database. Luckily I had a backup from last night, but this has been happening more and more frequently. Any ideas what might be causing this?

I'm no expert on this but if you are able to start VMMI again and log back in right away it sounds like your system is kicking you out somehow. You know when you load up VMMI and log in but you accidentally close the program you can't log back in right away until the system times out. If the program was the problem I think this would happen and you would have to wait to log back in. Then again, what do I know.

I have seen this as well many times. Particulary on XP Pro. Also, when dialing in remotely and adding or changing anything in the group intercom list or intercom hunt list, the program hour glasses for at least 5 minutes and eventually recovers. It you do anything during this period it says program not responding and game over. Then there is the VMMI still logged in issue when dialing in occasionally.

I'm glad you brought this up because I was getting ready to post on a similar problem. VMMI 17D connecting to a DXP w/ 17D. VMMI is loaded on a 12.0 Interchange box. It's happened more than once, but since it just happened a couple days ago (again), I'll give the specifics from that one. I can't remember back past that (I've slept at least once since then).

Connect to DXP with VMMI. It's happened on both com ports, in case you might be thinking a specific port issue. Make a change in line programming, to add VM ID to a line. Apply. Goes okay. I go into station programming. I make a change to a specific entry. Now, you know how it always seems to take forever the first time you make a change...it just sits there with an hourglass for a long time, and then the mouse pointer comes back, and then you can apply the change and all is well...in this case, instead of going back to the mouse pointer, VMMI closes, and an error of some sort comes up, and it also says there is a log being created. (Sorry for the run-on-and-on sentence.) I couldn't find the error. Anyway, that's what happened. I haven't really had this problem running VMMI from other Interchange boxes. The customer wants me to find out why it's happening and fix the problem, as the whole idea behind having it there was so I could remotely connect to the VM PC over the internet and administer changes on both VM and DXP.

One other thing about VMMI, that seemed to have started recently. Maybe it's an XP thing, I don't know. I seem to notice it more on XP machines, but that could simply be because that's what I mostly use. I don't remember having this problem on 2000 machines (such as Interchange machines). The problem I'm referring to is the disappearing scroll bar. You make a change in VMMI, then all of a sudden the scroll bar goes away. If you minimize the window or click in that area, it comes back. Strange and annoying. Has anyone else seen this one?

:bang:

Had you reported it to Comdial previously? I haven't yet, but am going to in the next couple days. The more to complain about it, maybe the faster they will recognize the problem and get a fix for it.

Send them this link, they need to get someone to watch this board if they want to improve their performance and cut down on tech support time.

I've seen same problem. I assumed it's a VMMI/XP problem but have no way to prove it.
