I have a ComDial DSU II phone system. I have 10 lines from verizon which have a roll-forward feature turned on, so if line 1 is busy, line 2 rings, etc. Our primary line, line 1, is -8877. I was doing some station programming yesterday & must have f’d something up, because now, line 1 gets immediately transferrd to voice mail. Obviously, not a good thing. ALL of the other lines ring through fine. I’ve connected my laptop to the system & have a list of all the settings and I can’t find a d@mn thing wrong/different for any of the lines or stations.

ANY help would extremlly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Chris

First and foremost, take a phone off the hook on line 1 and leave it off the hook so calls will hunt to line 2. Better yet, short out the line where it enters the building so you don't run the risk of someone hanging up the phone.

I don't know how to help you with the programming part, but at least this will make it so you can receive calls until someone else here is able to assist you.

One question though. Could it be that you inadvertantly activated night service? Go to the receptionist's phone and check to see if the ITCM button is flashing. If it is, that may be your problem. Perhaps line 1 is the only one that is programmed to hit voice mail at night while all of the others aren't. Just a guess.

Thanks for the quick reply. My "quick fix" was to forward line 1 to line 2 via Verizon, so we're still receiving calls.
Actually, I'd rather short out the line, but I have no idea how to do that. How would i do that?

It is definitely not night-service. I know that because 1. the attendant night-service light is not on (until I actually put it in night mode) and 2. All of the other lines ring through without a problem. When I put it in night-mode, all lines ring direct to voice mail.

I think I somehow made line 1 ring to vmail directly - just no clue on how.

Part of my problem is terminology also, so I sometimes get confused on things. I'm not a phone guy by trade... but an application developer - with a phone system dropped on his lap.

dtmf, Program 54. I'm searching the manual...but which one - there's a ton of different sub-options in there.
Sorry for my lack of knowledge.

Here's a guess. You removed the ring on line one from station 10 and nobody else is set to ring on that line. VM is set to answer delayed on all lines during the day. Your not getting an audible during the delay and after the time out period it goes to VM.

54-1 for direct ring, and then I selected the line. (btw, no other lines were selected).
Still no luck. I called the # from a cell phone and it went direct to voice mail.
thanks for the suggestion though.

Ok no problem, look at your ringing, you must have set Line 1 ringing to Direct on you VM ports, By your post you were programming stations so I would guess that's when it happened. Go into Station menu and press 6

Mole: To short out the line, you will need to take a short piece of wire and connect it across the line on the block where it connects to the system.

If you aren't familiar with this stuff, I would stick with the "phone off the hook" thing since it's safer. Working with the first line means it will be ringing a lot. Ringing voltage will hurt you if you come in contact with it.
