Is anybody else having a problem using Key link on a dell XP sp 2?
More.
I now believe this was caused by a microsoft update. I have 3 dell computers xp sp2 and all 3 crash the same way when I close keylink software. All 3 did work in the past with no trouble. Windows updates are the only thing these 3 computers have in common. I don't know when it first occured because I've ignored it for awhile hoping it would go away.
Is this happening to anyone else?
The blue screen fatal error is DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
I know it's a device driver problem, but I don't know how to solve it. I'm waiting for a call back from Comdial now. I'm expecting them to say "no one else is having that problem that we know of"

Does your laptop have a serial port on it, or are you using a USB to serial converter? I don't have a Dell anymore, so I can't say. I was just curious about type of serial connection. I am running XP SP2 with Keylink no problem, but my laptop is an HP. I wonder if it would give you this trouble if you used Compatibility to change it to Windows 98 or something older than XP.

All the puters were working fine connecting until about a month ago. Then they started to crash on exit from Keylink. I thought a windows update caused the trouble but I just deleted every update from one of the newest laptops and it still fails. I use a usb to db9 cable, it has and still does work on everything but this keylink software. Comdial sent me a new KeylinkDX and it fails too. I did learn that if I unplug from the VM board prior to shutting down keylink it doesn't crash. That's my current work around. Now the only common denominator is the usb to db9 cable, since I only have one and the failure occurs on 3 different pc's, I will buy a new one tomorrow and test. Seems unlikely that it would be fine in some programming and cause a crash in another but who knows.
More to come.

I have heard that some work better and test better than others. Which one are you using? I think Comdial came out with a list of a few, showing results for each.

This is from "cables to go" usb to serial. I have been using it on everything for over a year with no problems but maybe it has gone south. I'm trying everything.

It turned out to be some issue with the USB to serial cable or it's driver. A new cable and driver solved the issue. It's still strange though. It works fine on pcdba and all other apps, and it even works with key link until you disconnect with it still connected to the VM DB9 com port, that causes a crash.

KeylinkDX in this case. It turned out to be a cable driver issue, the new cable works fine, the old cable crashes everytime.

This may help, I got a Hawking Technology USB to Serial Converter and after about 2 hours of fighting with it found the following Windows setup would make it work =

Go into the Windows Control Panel, open the System icon and then click on the Hardware tab, then click the Device Manager button, Look for Ports (COM & LPT1) and open it, next double click on your USB-to-Serial Com Port.

Check to see that your port setting are 9600/8/N/1/N (change them if you need to) and then the most important thing is to go into the Advanced section and set both your buffer rates to “Low”, I found that if the buffer rates were set to Med or High the system would not connect. You can also set the Com Port # there, by default my new HP made it #5, after checking I found that I could set it to be #1.
