We've put our SIP server blade on a static IP and set up our EP200s to reach it and all indications are it's working fine. On EP200 we put in the Static IP of the SSB and bam. Internally we open some ports to get out of our network to connect and that works well also. Since they are going to get limited use, tell me again why this is a bad idea. We don't plan to leave it this way. We just wanted to see if it would work.

Why would'nt you leave it like that? I've been running like that for over a year and no problems.

So is your SSB sitting on the outside of your router, using a switch? So then you have a static public address assigned to the SSB and another to your router? I've used this type of setup before on another system for testing purposes, and ended up leaving one that way without problems. I didn't figure it would work on the SIP standard. I assumed you wouldn't be able to get all the necessary ports forwarded to make it work. Of course that was when I was thinking about having the SSB on the inside, and forwarding for EP200 connections coming in. So because the SSB is on the outside, the port forwarding is only necessary for the inside EP200s? Sounds like a reverse solution, but cool if it works. I'd be interested to see what ports you would need to forward to make this work. Can you PM me with that info? Also, not that I think it would make any difference, but would this same setup work with outside and inside EP300s?
Thanks!

Havn't tried EP300's yet. EP200's work well so far. We'll play with the ports a little more to get it better defined.

How does an external SIP phone make a call to an internal? When we tested this, the call setup/teardown worked fine but when the UDP port was negotiated for the peer to peer portion of the call--that's when we ran into problems. Did you do a DMZ or how did you get all the ports forward to all the interneal phones?
