We have a DXP Plus and several FXIIs. I have become fairly comfortable programming these in VMMI, so I would prefer our next system to be programmable in the same manner. I'm looking for a small system (4-8 phones and 2-4 lines) that will handle digital impact phones and preferrably can be programmed with VMMI. Can you tell me what would meet these needs? I have used Procomm to program some of our older analog systems, but only do that once in a blue moon and would prefer not to have to delve into that.

DXP, DXP Plus, and FX are all that use the VMMI.

Thanks for the quick response. If I then wanted to use the Impact digital phones on a small system, I would be looking at a DSU or DSU-II and programming via Procomm, correct?

One final question. If I don't intend to ever go above 8 phones and 4 lines, is there any reason to choose DSU-II over DSU? What are the major differences between DSU and DSU-II?

DSUII is the newer system and is very stable. It comes in a 408 KSU that can expand to 8 by 16 to fit your size requirements. You can add voice mail via Debut or Small Office Lite. Even though the DSUII is discontinued, most Comdial dealer think it was an exceptional phone system. Caller ID is a bit of a pain to install. There is plenty of support for product. There will be no more development on the system so don't look for any added features in the future. In my opinion one of the worst decisions Comdial ever made was discontinuing the DSUII.

you would be using the dsu 2 and for the difference, you would need to view a compatability chart. I'm not sure I have one, but I'm sure someone does.

One of the big differneces is that if you use voice mail you can not have voice record or listen on a dsu. Also the dsuII gives you ring all on station hunting. The DSUII was a great product. Go for the DSUII for the little extra money it is worth it. Just my 2 cents
