We had an old unisyn 616 lying around from a former upgrade and placed it in one of our buildings. The installer set me up with the two analog line so that we could use one for a credit card terminal. I have dial tone on that line and can use a normal ist cordless phone on that line. However, I can not get a credit card machine to make a call out on it. I never get past the dial tone. I have called the credit card company and tried everything we could think of get the credit card terminal to work. No such luck. I can take that terminal to my other building and use it there no problem so I am confident it is not the credit card machine. Do I have to program the unisyn somehow to make this work? I see nothing in the Unisyn installer's manual that deals with IST lines other than extended DTMF tones.
Thanks for any thoughts anyone has.

Is your CC machine programmed to preface the number it calls with a 9 to draw telco dial tone?
Either that or the Unisyn needs to be programmed with a "prime line" so when it goes off hook it siezes a system phone line. Dial 9 is better because that allows the CC machine to use any available line in the line group. Mark

I do have it programmed for prime line, but not with a 9. When I test usign a cordless analog line, it pauses about a quarter of a second but I do get a dial tone. Credit card machine is not programmed to dial 9 first.
This is what is driving me nuts. I can get a dial tone and make a normal call but just not with a cc terminal...

Maybe it's dialing the first digit before it really has a telco dial tone. Monitor the line with a butt set and listen to the CC dial out that should give you a clue. Mark
