I was trying to adjust the ringing assignments as described in page 3-57 of the DSU II system manual. I have Comdial Impact 8324S phones. However, I misread the programming code. I put in xxxx followed by the procedure I needed when I was supposed to put in xxxx. It's that second x that screwed everything up. Now, I can only pick up the handset and answer calls. No lights light up, and I can't push any buttons to pick up a line, page someone or access voice mail. The problem is this is station 10 and that's where we check our messages every morning.

I can't push the intercom button to enter any codes either. I eventually did my ring assigments from station 12.

I swapped in a different phone that we don't use and the behavior was the same, so I put the old one back. I did the self test with button 1 and it tested out ok but still didn't re-enable anything. Is there something I can do to re-enable the functionality of the main phone? I was thinking about factory defaulting the button assignments or the station for that phone, but I don't know what either of those options will cause to happen.

I factory defaulted the button assignments, then the station settings for that phone. Still didn't work. Then I block programmed the settings from a regular station to that phone. Nothing has worked.

My immediate concern is getting the voicemail from that phone. Messages were left overnight and I can't get to them. Is there a way to access station 10's voicemail from another phone?

Sure, go to another phone and dial to voicemail, then press the # key until system says "enter mailbox number" enter 10, system says "enter password" and enter it. you will get your messages. Just like you were calling in from outside to retrieve your messages.

When I push the vmail button on a regular station, it just pages extension 10 endlessly and never drops into voicemail. The only time I can access voicemal for another station is if a message has been left for that station. Is there a code to dial into the main voicemail?

Nevermind, I just dialed our main phone number and got in that way. Thanks for the idea.

Now is there any idea what I can do to get the phone working again?

The incorrect code you dialed should not cause any trouble, at least it doesn't on a system here. So, I don't know what you did. I'd recommend having a trained Comdial tech connect with a laptop and look at the database. A trained tech could save your database and default the system to test and then reload the database.

When I dialed the code, I dialed not just the access code but everything that I would have needed to do to re-configure the ring on 1 station. I must have really confused it. At the moment, we cannot afford to bring in our service tech to fix this. So, I have to figure something out.

Do you think doing port reassignment and moving station 10 to a different phone would also transfer the problems? Consider that when I block programmed the settings from a different phone I still couldn't use the buttons.

Hopefully you got it figured out. :thumb: If not, can you afford NOT to call? Your previous posts sounded fairly urgent in your need to get it fixed. Mark is right. The only efficient way to figure out what happened and fix it is to have someone look at it, who knows what they are looking at.

Maybe this sounds harsh, but if you got yourself in a jam because you figured "what do I have to lose by trying it myself", and then didn't have a contingency plan to get you out of that jam (calling your technician), you maybe would have saved yourself time and money in the long run to just call your technician in the first place. We make a living at this because we know what we're doing (most of the time smile ), while others don't.

Hopefully you got it figured out. clap

I'm still wondering if reassigning station 10 to a different port would transfer my problems over there or fix them. But maybe that would screw up the voicemail. I'd still like to solve this, but if it's too risky I'm willing to leave it how it is and just deal with it.
