1) Please read the posting information in the posts at the top of the page. 2) Please complete your profile. 3) Passwords are never given out in the open forum.

I have a similar issue except old installer is still around and when my customer called to inform them to return the building key, they did, but not before changing passwords on FX-II and Interchange voicemail. Can I get help with these?

You need to call Comdial Inside Sales to start the process which involves paperwork. The equipment may belong to the customer, but the changed password is proprietary to the technician which most people don't understand.

Thanks, I'm on it. I've got the two forms, filled them out and am waiting on Comdial.
I'll have to disagree on the ownership of the passwords however. There is a reason its called customer owned equipment. They own it. Any certified technician can work on it, if it belongs to the customer and they choose another company to maintain it that is their prerogative.

If I warranty the system, I can't let someone else access the database, screw something up, then make me fix it at no charge. I will give the customer the password, but that voids any warranty. It's kind of a catch 22, but with a good vendor it provides more protection then harm. Mark

Mark,
I found just the oppisite. I caught a certified Comdial dealer remotely calling into our phone systems and changing the programming causing problems, they would then wait for us to call them to make the repairs and bill us. We changed the passwords and no longer have them hacking into our phone systems any longer.
I was able to track them calling into the system using call accounting software.
It works both ways! I understand your point also.

I'm not surprised they are out of business. Don't miss the key point in my original response. "but with a good vendor it provides more protection then harm." Mark
