That's a new one to me. I'd like to know what you learn about it. If you need me to ask Comdial Tech support I'll call for you if your not a dealer. Mark

I, too, would like to know what you find out about this, Icey. We've got a few DX-80s out there--and I've never come across this "Buffer Full" statement on a display. Can't even imagine what it would be right now. What software version is that??

Say---are you doing anything with call accounting or SMDR?? Is there a printer involved on the system??

I ran across this one the other day on a new install. Right before I was leaving, I noticed on a DET it said "SMDR Buffer full". Tried everything to get it to go away but the whole system was locked up and you couldnt even grab a co line. Finally I reset the system and it went away. The next morning I get a call from the customer and it had happened again. I got on the phone with Vertical and they told me to disable SMDR in extension programming and also in call handeling(under feature control). I did this since they were not using SMDR, but I too have never seen this happen before. Vertical said that since they were not "dumping the data on a printer or a file capture program" it was back logged. But agian, none of my other installs had done this and they were not utilizing SMDR on a printer or PC either. It did solve the problem though. Hope this helps

I've seen this a couple of times myself; disabling SMDR fixed it each time.

The problem is on F39 software the serial buffer is not over writen. You need to go into programming and turn off smdr on the lines and extensions. If you reset the KSU it will clear but it will come back once the buffer is full and the system will not allow calls. Hope this helps.

Good information, thanks Jim. I have a lot of 39's installed without this issue, I guess by default SMDR is not "on" for the lines and ext's unless we turn it "on" is that correct? or is there another reason it doesn't affect all the 39's I have in place? Good to know though. Mark

Hi Mark, I think what happens is it is always turned on but in the other revs the buffer gets over riden as the new cal records come in. On the F39 it does not. I find it is best to always go in and turn it off.

But I think I have a 39's installed that I don't recall turning that off, and I have never heard of this until now. I did upgrade a lot of them to 40 so maybe I don't have as many as I think. And when I had 39 here in the office I had SMDR connected to a PC so I was running it and would not have seen the trouble here. This one goes in the notebook. Thanks. Mark
