Customer with a DX80 that has a CO line going to a specific mailbox. In the CO line programming the day and night answering positions are the VM hunt group. What I don't see (or understand) is how this particular line knows to go to the specific mailbox. In an FXII you can assign a voice mail ID to a line, so I figured that there would be something similar in the DX80. Could someone please help me out on this?

I believe, in the KeyVoice VM--this is done by going into DOS and programming the trans.txt file so that the line will be answered by a particular extension/MB. Are you wanting to change this?? Do you have a manual?? Do you have a laptop?? Do you have the Keylink software? If not--you may need some help from one of the Comdial moderators. Good Luck.

Thanks for the response JW. Yes, I have the manual, laptop and software. The comdial systems are relatively new to me. I am not trying to change this, it is already in place and working. Just wasn't sure how it was working.

It could be the trans.txt file but it could also be that the line is set as "Private too" a particular extension which would do what you describe. Mark

Right, Mark. It's been a while, but one of my first customers(12 lines/40 phones) to use the DX-80 had a real estate agent who had one line and wanted the VM to "act just like an answering machine". I made his line only appear on his phone, made it "Private", took it out of the "dial 9" group, and then went in and changed the trans.txt. Everything has been working good for him since.

Right. You don't even need to change the trans.txt file, it follows that extensions CFNA/B to it's mailbox. You only need the trans.txt file if the call needs to be answered by a specific routing box. Mark

Just turn trace on in the vmail, it will get digit sequence that is different on all lines, copy these down and create a rule in the trans.txt file to send the call whereever you want it to go, routing or mailbox. That way you can have the line ringing on different phones.
